Nouns are what things are called.

What are some examples of nouns?
Here are some singular nouns:
Cat. Dog. Table. Chair. Water. Person. Computer. Girl. Glasses.

Here are some plural nouns:
Cats. Dogs. Tables. Chairs. Water. People. Computers. Girls. Glasses.

See? Nouns are what things are called.

How can you use nouns in a sentence?

Simple sentence structures for nouns and examples:

  • (singular, close) This is a [noun]. –> This is a backpack.
  • (singular, far away) That is a [noun]. –> That is a tree.
  • (plural, close) These are [nouns]. –> These are backpacks.
  • (plural, far away) Those are [nouns]. –> Those are trees.
  • (describing a noun, use plurals) [nouns] are [adjective]. –> Elephants are big.
  • (counting, singular) There is one [noun]. –> There is one flower.
  • (counting, plural) There are five [nouns]. –> There are five flowers.
