What is an adverb?

An adverb is a phrase or just a word that qualifies an adjective, verb or another adverb. It describes how something is done. There are many kinds of adverbs, that can be used in many situation.

Here are adverbs with examples below:

Examples of Adverbs: Sample Sentences

However, what if you have several adverbs? How do you use them in a sentence? 

The general order of adverbs are below:

ONE: manner

TWO: place

THREE: frequency

FOUR: time

However, you can also change the order of adverbs. For example, you can move the adverbs of frequency and time. It depends on what part of the sentence you want to emphases.

Other types of adverbs can fit into the sentences in different places.

EXAMPLE SENTENCES:

I sing loudly up in the attic often before breakfast.

I sing loudly (manner) up (place) in the attic often (frequency) before (time) breakfast.
