Welcome to lesson 2 for Mastering Phrasal Verbs. This worksheet provides a list of 20 phrasal verbs for students to fill in the blanks with the correct particle. Phrasal verbs are a type of multi-word verb that are made up of a verb plus one or more particles (typically prepositions or adverbs). These particles can change the meaning of the verb, resulting in a different interpretation of the sentence. Phrasal Verbs Used in a Sentence

Here are example sentences for each of the phrasal verbs in today’s lesson:

  1. break something in: I need to break these new shoes in before I wear them to work.
  2. bring up something: Sarah brought up a good point during the meeting.
  3. call over: Can you call over the waiter, please?
  4. call around: I’ll call around and see if anyone can help me move this weekend.
  5. call me back: Can you call me back when you get a chance?
  6. called off: The football game was called off due to the storm.
  7. call on: I’m going to call on my friend for some help with this project.
  8. call up: I need to call up my doctor to schedule an appointment.
  9. calm down: Please calm down and let’s talk this through.
  10. not care for: I don’t care for spicy food.
  11. catch up: Let’s get together and catch up over coffee.
  12. check out: We need to check out of the hotel by 11am.
  13. check in: We have to check in at the front desk before we can go to our room.
  14. check out: I want to check out that new restaurant everyone is talking about.
  15. check out: Did you check out that new movie yet?
  16. check back: Can you check back with me tomorrow about the meeting time?
  17. cheered up: The flowers cheered her up after a long day at work.
  18. chip in: Let’s all chip in and buy a gift for the boss.
  19. clean up: We need to clean up the house before our guests arrive.
  20. cancelled: The concert was cancelled due to illness.
