Phonics for Adults Level 5 Lesson 6 Vowel Pairs IR ER UR English Sounds and Words

This will be a fun phonics lesson for adults to help you learn American English pronunciation.

Today we will do lesson 6 in the Level 5 Adult Phonics series. We will learn the letter pair IR and its unique sound.

I will teach you how to correctly say the words Bird, Girl, Shirt, and Skirt in an English accent. We will learn the two letter pair ER. I will teach you how to correctly say the words Singer, Letter, Soccer, and Teacher in an American English accent.

We will also learn the letter pair UR. I will teach you how to say Turtle, Purple, Nurse, and Purse with an American English accent. ER is commonly on the end of a word when spelling it. That is always helpful to know. This is why we study them in Phonics. I just want you to start to notice the patterns for spelling.

I want you to focus on reading and pronouncing the sounds correctly. That is the most important part. This is how a native English speaker learns to read and speak. And you can too.
